Kavelbron, located near Älvsjö Centrum in Stockholm, reflects the area’s diverse architectural character, with its mix of multi-family houses and individual villas. The project emphasizes preserving and enhancing the green surroundings by incorporating an open building structure with thoughtfully positioned volumes ranging from two to four stories.

The design consists of three independent building volumes, strategically spaced to maintain sightlines and foster a green, inviting environment for residents. A green alleyway connecting Sjättenovembervägen and Segervägen serves as both a pedestrian and cyclist shortcut and provides access to a semi-subterranean parking garage. Along this pathway, terraced houses with private south-facing gardens and alleyway-facing terraces are proposed.

Urban Villa: A freestanding volume at Johan Skyttesväg and Segervägen, featuring a café on the southwest corner and views toward a green inner courtyard.

Street-Integrated Volume: A longer, taller structure along Sjättenovembervägen, designed to harmonize with the street’s scale. Apartments here feature French balconies and large windows on the street side, while those facing the courtyard have spacious terraces and balconies.

The design employs a cohesive aesthetic, with pitched roofs and a calm material and color palette. Facade materials, window types, and subtle variations in color draw inspiration from the existing neighborhood while giving the buildings a distinct identity.
