Wolfblanc is currently leading the comprehensive renovation of a 120 m² apartment in Madrid’s prestigious Barrio de Salamanca. Located at the corner of Conde de Peñalver and Ayala streets, the apartment has a strong potential regarding natural light and a generous layout — a solid foundation for a fresh, modern transformation.

The clients, a family with sons in their study years, envisioned a home that could balance private life with an active social atmosphere. They wanted open, welcoming spaces for dinners with friends, a comfortable guest room for frequent visitors, and a shared bedroom for the sons that supports both rest and study.

The apartment also presented clear challenges. The existing layout was outdated, materials were worn, and the flow between spaces was broken by a long, dark corridor. The kitchen, although connected to a large interior patio, lacked light due to dark, opaque glazing. Despite these issues, the apartment’s structure offered unique advantages — from its bright corner position and generous floorplan to built-in storage elements and windows on both street and patio sides.

Wolfblanc’s design approach focused on opening up the space and enhancing its natural strengths. The social areas, including the living room and a large dining space, were moved toward the vibrant Conde de Peñalver side, making the most of the street’s energy and light. In contrast, the bedrooms were placed on the quieter Ayala side to ensure privacy and calm. Interior partitions were removed to create the mentioned spaces and to dissolve the long corridor, bringing visual connection between the kitchen and the rest of the apartment, while new windows brought in fresh daylight and enhanced ventilation from the patio.

Natural materials such as warm wood and breathable adobe paint were selected to give the home a serene and timeless quality. The result is a luminous, inspiring, and functional family space that blends comfort with a refined, social lifestyle.
